Limestone is Perth's stone. It suits our sandy soil, it handles a hot summer, and it looks better the longer it's there. We build with big, heavy blocks, around 85kg each and placed by excavator. That weight is a large part of why the walls sit so solid once they're down.
Every job starts with a walk around your block: the fall, the soil, where the water goes and what's going in behind the wall. Then we do the earthworks ourselves (dig out, compact and set the base), then lay the blocks course by course, cutting to fit as we go so the joints stay tight. When we leave, the site is clean and the wall is ready to do its job.
Why Wally's
Anyone can stack blocks. We compact a solid base, backfill with free-draining gravel and put weep holes through the wall so water gets out instead of pushing on it. Trapped water is what cracks limestone walls, so we don't leave any.
We cut the blocks to suit the wall, not the other way around. That means tight joints, clean ends and courses that run true the whole length, corners included.

We dig out, set the levels, compact the base and get the footing right. Nobody sees this part once the wall is up, but the whole wall depends on it.
Blocks are placed by excavator and cut to fit, with free-draining gravel behind them and weep holes so water can escape. Then we clean up, so you're left with a wall, not a mess.
